The Red Chord is a band from Revere, Massachusetts whose sound incorporates elements of death metal, grindcore, experimental music and metalcore. Though that the band has been labeled as deathcore, guitarist Mike McKenzie has said, "Some people call us a grind band. Some people call us a hardcore band. Some people call us a death metal band. Were not any of them, really. Were just sort of a noisy band".

Their name signifies a slit throat and was taken from Alban Berg's opera Wozzeck.

The band released their first album, Fused Together in Revolving Doors, on Robotic Empire Records in 2002, and it saw much success in the underground metal community with songs such as "Nihilist," "Sixteen Bit Fingerprint," and "Dreaming in Dog Years." The title of this album is a reference to the 1942 Cocoanut Grove nightclub fire in Boston, the deadliest nightclub fire in American history.

The Red Chord's second album, Clients, was released in 2005 on Metal Blade Records, and they played on the second stage of Ozzfest in 2006. Their latest album, Prey for Eyes, was released in July 2007. The band took part in the 2008 Mayhem festival over the summer, playing on the Hot Topic stage.
